GRANBY – Capital Prep/Achievement First remained undefeated at 8-0 with a 14-8 Pequot Conference football win over Granby/Canton Friday night.
“We came in knowing they were a good team, a solid team,” Capital Prep senior Hashim Jones said. “We had to just take care of business.”
Granby scored first on a 1-yard touchdown run by Hayes Horst and Vincent Forte’s conversion run gave the Bears (5-2) an 8-0 lead with 9:34 left in the second quarter. Jones scored on a 10-yard touchdown run with 4:28 left in the second quarter and the conversion was good to tie the score at 8-8.
Capital Prep scored on a Malique Marshall 9-yard keeper with 6:44 left in the fourth quarter but failed to convert on the run.
