Defending Class L volleyball champion Farmington completed a remarkable comeback after losing the first two games of the Class L championship and rallying to defeat Bristol Central 3-2 (18-25, 24-26, 25-22, 27-25, 15-4) Saturday for its second straight title at East Haven High School.
Top-seeded Farmington (25-2) rallied after trailing 2-0 and then was trailing 23-14 in the fourth game and rallied to win, 27-25.
Farmington had beaten 10th seeded Bristol Central (16-10) during the regular season, 3-0 and 3-1. It was the 10th state title for the River Hawks.
Granby falls in Class M: Fourth-seeded Joel Barlow, the runner-up in Class M last year to RHAM, defeated No. 3 Granby 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-17) for the Class M championship Saturday at East Haven High School.
Barlow (21-2) was led by Ella Anderson, who had 36 assists and 16 digs and was named the final’s Most Outstanding Player. The championship was Barlow’s third title in the last six years. Olivia Teclaw led Granby (22-2) with 17 assists.
