Glastonbury field hockey coach to enter state coaches Hall of Fame

Glastonbury field hockey coach Maureen Perkins is among a group of coaches who will be inducted into the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame at the AquaTurf Club in Southington on May 9.

Perkins, in her 25th year of coaching at Glastonbury, has over 300 wins and two state titles. Other honorees are: Jeffrey Brameier (Darien boys lacrosse), Peter Capezzone (Old Saybrook boys and girls outdoor/indoor track), George Crouse (Stonington boys and girls tennis), Charles Farley (Sheehan football, indoor and outdoor track and field).

Also, Lisa Hodges (Kolbe Cathedral, girls basketball), Thomas Jacobs (Amity indoor/outdoor track and field), Art Kohs (Hale Ray/Xavier boys soccer, posthumously), Robert Zito (Maloney/Newtown/Stratford/Weston football) and Joe Morelli (media).

Three coaches will receive special awards: Paul Mengold (Joseph J. Fontana Service Award), Terri Ziemnicki (Thomas R. Monahan Award) and Bobby Thompson (Joseph Calvanese Award).
