A complaint by a parent involving an unspecified incident with Glastonbury High football coach Eric Hennessy last month has been reviewed and dismissed by school officials, Glastonbury Superintendent of Schools Alan Bookman said in an email Thursday.
“After interviewing coaches, students and reviewing the video of the incident, we found nothing to support the claim by the parent,” Bookman wrote in an email.
A parent complained at a school board meeting recently about what Bookman termed “an incident” that had occurred last month with Hennessy, Bookman said Wednesday. Also, a petition on change.org, which was started Sept. 30 and had collected 154 signatures as of Thursday, called for the coach’s termination, citing “inappropriate and violent behavior” and “bullying” by the coach.
Bookman said that Hennessy continued to coach during the investigation.
Hennessy did not respond to a request for a comment.
Hennessy is in his fifth year of coaching at Glastonbury. The Guardians (3-1) have a bye week this week and will play at Southington Oct. 18.
